DESCRIPTION:Prop NN is a measure that will be on the Colorado ballot this coming November. Kevin Pape\, the Political Director from the Colorado Education Association (CEA)\, will present on what Prop NN says and how it will impact school funding in Colorado. \nFrom the CEA: Prop NN lets Colorado use revenue it already collects to invest in K-12 public schools without raising taxes. For too long\, an outdated cap has held schools back\, making it harder to pay educators livable wages\, reduce class sizes\, and offer career and technical education programs students need. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a peaceful rally Thursday\, August 20\, in solidarity with Jeffco Public Schools.\n\nOrganized by Jefferson County coalition partners Rocky Mountain Equality\, Jeffco PTA\, Wheat Ridge for Equity\, and Engage Jeffco Schools in support of students\, as well as for Jeffco Public Schools and LGBTQ++ Inclusive Student Policies. \n\n\nThe U.S. Department of Education’s threatened enforcement action—and the potential loss of up to $90 million in federal funding—places the district\, its educators\, and its students in an extraordinarily difficult position. DESCRIPTION:There are four different school funding ballot measures that will appear on Jeffco’s 2026 ballot this year. Two statewide measures: Proposition NN and Amendment 87. And two Jeffco measures: 5A Mill Levy Override and 5B Special Mill Levy. The hosts of this event – Engage Jeffco Schools and Jeffco PTA – have endorsed all of these school funding measures. \nDuring this educational session\, we will hear from experts on each measure. They will explain how the measure would fund our Jeffco schools and what the key messages are when talking with community members. There will also be time to ask questions and learn about ways to get involved with each campaign.
