Laura Wheeler\, SEL Implementation Specialist\, will lead us through an in-depth exploration of social emotional learning (SEL) and how it supports student well-being and academic success. \nWhat we’ll cover: \n\nWhat is SEL: We’ll demystify Social Emotional Learning (SEL)—moving beyond the buzzwords to define the core competencies that help students manage emotions and set goals.\nSEL Specialist Role: Discover exactly how SEL Specialists (SELS) support classrooms. Which schools in Jeffco currently have dedicated SEL staff\, and what are the specific numbers across the district?\nBeyond the Lesson Plan: SELS do more than teach resilience. We’ll discuss the “hidden” roles they fill\, from crisis intervention to teacher coaching and building positive school culture and climate.\nMental Health Ecosystem: A school is a village.
